That for the price of ONE Audi R8 4.2, you could buy TWO Corvette Stingray Z51s, AND a used miata (just for fun). And according to R&T, the manual R8 does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, while MT clocked the Stingray at 3.9 seconds. So let me get this straight. The Corvette is a whopping .7 seconds FASTER to 60mph, and costs 1/2 has much!? And im pretty sure we all know who is going to win on the track, based on how well the C6 performs; and to be honest, I actually wouldnt be surprised if it puts down better track times than the R8 V10. And the vette is most certainly a great value compared to the Porsche 911, simply because 5 options wont add $30k to the price tag. So, does all this mean that the Corvette Stingray is the best-performance-per-dollar drivers car on the road today? I sure do think so.
my goodness that black is beautiful...

It is absolutely STUNNING in black. My God...
But those lines on the R8 are just... so clean and beautiful... I will always love the R8.
But man do I love absolutely everything about the new Vettes. EVERYTHING.

But in the end, you're stuck with a Corvette. SO IDK? R8 sounds pretty tempting in comparison.

I agree. gotta love the R8, but the way the black flows on this car is soooo sexy. And the rims are gorgeous too

I know I might have mental problems, but I'd take a Miata before the C7 or the R8.

Performance wise? This is just the Stingray. Good grief I don't know what the Z06 and ZR1 will be like.
Interior? BIG improvement over the C6. Its honestly on par with the R8. The R8 isn't THAT special inside to be blunt, it just has nice materials. Something Chevy finally bothered doing.
As a daily driver? The Corvette has the R8 beat silly. Actual trunk, actual rear storage area, not a sad little hole in the front like the R8.

You could also say the same about the Viper, but the truth is, the new 'Vette and Viper are so much different from their predecessors that you can't say it anymore.

"stuck with a corvette" i dont follow. The corvette is arguably the most respected vehicle in american culture, so here, it means a lot more.

I don't know if I just have really weird taste, but I really don't think the R8 looks that good. Though they might look much better in person but I've never seen one.

you DO have mental problems because there is NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THE MIATA. it is a slow overpriced car that doesnt even look that good (although i would never call it "ugly", its just not that visually appealing). Its handling isn't that special. a V6 camaro/mustang is better in every measurable way. what is so appealing about it other than that its a convertible? and why is everyone on this website so obsessed with them? I havent heard of one person outside of Jalopnik/oppositelock that likes them...

I agree, the performance is pretty damn impressive. I really like the new Vette. Though to be fair, you're comparing a brand new model that's not even out yet, to a car that's six years old.

the ford mustang, the f-150, and the jeep are all close seconds, but i still think the corvette is right nexto baseball and apple pie

Besides, when do you care about- or even look at- the interior when you're driving hard enough to even need this type of car?

I think the Mustang more-so. I'm not biased toward Ford or Chevy myself but I see the Mustang as _the_ American classic. It's more affordable, there's more on the road, more people in America grew up "working on Mustangs" but that's my opinion. I'm letting my colors show in my original comment, though, I'd rather have a foreign-built car no matter the cost. You know what springs to my mind when I picture the driver of a Corvette? Mid-life crisis...
Though I kind of picture the same person test driving an R8...

the Z06 is probably gonna kill the mclaren 12c, the 458, the aventador, the sls bs, and pretty much every other supercar on the market around the track. and i agree with it being the daily driver, especially since it will be cheaper to run, and because you have so much more storage space. plus, the vette has much better ground clearance. its like everything that gm did to the corvette is perfect

i think corvette is more "american dream" than the mustang, and i also think that it represent to a lot of people (non-enthusiasts) as the "ultimate" american sportscar, regardless of performance #s...

Not just the build quality but the feel of the car. American cars are cheap and just sitting in them tells you why.

true. however, the automatic gets a new dual-clutch transmission, which improves 0-60 times. (although they are still a bit slower than the corvette's). I can tell from your user-picture-avatar that u are an Audi fan, and so am I. Im just saying that the Corvette is a better deal for your money, even though i love the R8 as well...

I don't know bro', but Captain America is not really as cool as Iron Man, he is stuck in the 40's, and has the mentality of a boy scout. He is pretty much a Superman wannabe, that can't fly or shoot laser with his eyes.

and from watching avengers & the captain america movie, it seems like he isnt really extremely strong or anything. Sure he is great in hand-to-hand combat, can take a good beating, and can jump far distances, but he really doesnt seem much stronger than a (male) olympic gymnast on steroids... and he is also horrible with a gun
